Freak snow traps thousands across Europe

While heavy snowfall is the delight of every skier, this week thousands of skiers across  parts of Europe got more than they bargained for when heavier than usual snowfall left them trapped in their hotel rooms.
Freak snowfalls dumped up to 18ft of snow blocking roads and railways in Austria, southern Germany, France and Switzerland.

One skier told a radio station, "It's a bit like being trapped in paradise."

  1. Wow, the levels of snowfall depicted in these pictures are astounding! Another indicator of the autonomy of nature. For while in England there are complaints of a lack of cold this winter, their European neighbours are facing mountains of snow. Poor poor poodle, hope the snow lets up on you soon!

  2. Thanks once more Freshangle for some original news reporting. I've been reading yahoo online all day today and had no sense of the weather-storm in Europe until I clicked on you! Thumbs up to you.

  4. It's things like this that makes me thank God that I'm in Nigeria. With the little cold now, my lips are cracking and my fingers are numb.
I guess the only way Nigeria can make a similar climate news headline is by having one that says: "Freak Sun Scorches Thousands". Well, that won't happen any time soon.

  5. Lanre, first of all thank you for your faithful comments. I can't tell you how much I appreciate them.

I heard the weather in Nigeria is freezing - that's a bit freaky. Yes, I suppose Nigeria won't be having any dramatic weather headlines. But not to worry, there are more melodramatic issues to keep us in the limelight!

    Thanks.
