Jokes for a Laugh

Two politicans were having a heated debate. Finally, one of them jumped up and yelled at the other, "What about the powerful interest that controls you?"
And the other politician screamed back, "You leave my wife out of this!"

A little girl asked her father, 'do all fairy tales begin with "Once upon a time"?

The father replied, 'No, some begin with - If I am elected.'

It's tough being a politician. Half your reputation is ruined by lies the other half is ruined by the truth!

A politician is a man who stands for what he thinks the voters will fall for.

A Senator, a clergyman, and a Boy Scout were passengers in a small plane that developed engine trouble. The pilot announced, "We'll have to bail out. Unfortunately, there are only three parachutes. I have a wife and seven small children. My family needs me. I'm taking one of the parachutes and jumping out!" And he jumped. Then the Senator said, "I am the smartest politician in the world. The country needs me I'm taking one of the parachutes." And he jumped. The clergyman said to the Boy Scout, "I've had a good life and yours is still ahead of you. You take the last parachute." The youth shrugged and said, "Don't need to. There are two parachutes left. The smartest politician in the world just jumped with my knapsack!"

An Israeli doctor says: "Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in 6 weeks." A British doctor says: "That is nothing; we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in 4 weeks." A Canadian doctor says: "In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in 2 weeks." A Nigerian doctor, not to be outdone, says: "You guys are way behind...... We just took a man with NO brain, made him President, and now the whole country is looking for work.

  1. I trust Fresher Angle to leave me laughing! My laughter beat that of the Chimpanzee.
When it comes to Politicians/politics, I agree with the scepticism expressed in the articles to a large extent. The Nigerian example was the funniest one.
However I must ask what checks and balances can be placed on the political institution? Are the media and electorate so helpless?

  2. Thanks, Dlaw. Politics is what it is; a dirty game. I think the media have played a huge role in curbing excesses but they can only do so much. Thanks again for your comment.
